As a Diesel Technician, you are a valued member of our team, performing:

Accurate diagnosis and essential repair of commercial vehicles
Quality and cost-effective preventive maintenance
Effective communication with the parts department and the service advisor
Safe movement of trucks/equipment to/from shop and yard area

Preferred Candidates have the following:

Customer-focused mindset
Computer experience necessary to perform diagnostics and research
Prior experience with commercial vehicle repair

Essential Duties

Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Skills and Qualifications

High School Diploma
Basic computer skills
Up to Two years related experience and/or training as a Technician.
Valid CDL License a plus, recommended within 1 year of hiring.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with only limited resources. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Use of torque wrenches, air powered tools or hand tools.
Use of arms in a raised position above shoulder level for prolong periods of time. Use of creeper or rolling device to enable tech to work underneath vehicle.
The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee is required to stand and sit while making repairs.
Entry or exit from the cab of the vehicle.
Climb to a safe position to access the engine compartment area, firewall or roof of a vehicle to perform repairs.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to push/pull large tool chest from vehicle to vehicle.
