Marine Mechanical Senior Engineering Technician

This Marine Mechanic perform mechanical maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
* Perform mechanical maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.
* Master understanding of production and processes.
* Responsible for interfacing with customers and ability to provide work direction to others.
* May manage one or more multiple jobs.
* Complete comprehension of specialty trade functions and tools. Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
* Develops and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
* Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product.
* Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignments.
* Must have experience as a shipboard marine mechanical trades specialty with 6 or more years of shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
* Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
* Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues related to equipment and systems.
* Plan, schedule, and execute maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
* Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
* Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop and implement technical solutions and improvements.
* Assist in the installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment and systems.
* Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair tasks performed, as well as equipment performance data.
* Train and mentor junior technicians on technical procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
* Stay up-to-date with advancements in technology and industry standards to continuously enhance technical knowledge and skills.
* Participate in cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and support for various projects.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in all engineering activities.
*Required Skills:*
· Experience in operations, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment onboard USN surface.
* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and concepts.
* Proficient in using a variety of tools, equipment, and software used in engineering and technical tasks.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
* Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in equipment calibration and maintenance activities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate technical data and make informed decisions.
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work setting.
* Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
* Proficient in record-keeping and documentation practices to maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
*Required Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* An associates/bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field is preferred.
* Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a similar role.
* Certification in a relevant engineering discipline is a plus.
* Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to engineering and equipment maintenance.
* Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks as required.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
