  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (Flexible hours to accommodate military duties such as VA appointments)
    Pay: $25-$30/ hr - pay will be determined by experience and certifications

    DOD Skillbridge Requirements and Eligibility:

    The DOD Skillbridge Program is designed for military service members who are in their last 180 days of military service, transitioning out, and preparing to re-enter civilian life with the goal of entering the civilian workforce.
    The Diesel Technician Skillbridge Program is an intensive 120-150 day training experience that will give you the opportunities to become an expert in the field and work on tractors and trailers that are all company owned.
  • Must be within 180 days of transition from military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard)
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
  • Open to all qualified transitioning active-duty U.S. service members, both officer and enlisted, of any rank and branch


  • Your responsibilities as a Diesel Diagnostic Technician / Mechanic will include, but are not limited to:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical tractor and trailer-related issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment such as JPRO, OEM Diagnostic Software, Multimeters, and Windows
  • Performance preventive maintenance on our fleet of tractors & trailers
  • Perform DOT inspection per FMSCA guidelines
  • Physically capable to perform all job duties, which includes being able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction, stand or lie for extended periods, and have flexible movement to reach equipment.


  • To become part of the NFI team, you:
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Preferred ability to obtain a Class B license
  • General Maintenance Experience
  • Successfully demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Examples of teamwork and customer service skills include good oral and written communication skills.
